Fahamu Pecou Opens Brand New Exhibit “Talking Drum”

By  |  0 Comments

Today we joined Fahamu Pecou for the opening of his brand new art exhibit “Talking Drum” at the Center for Civil and Human Rights in Atlanta.

“Talking Drum” features pieces of artwork that are symbolic of the civil rights and black power movements of the 60s and 70s. The pieces highlight historic moments and icons in black history including Huey P. Newton, Ruby Bridges, and Tommie Smith. The exhibit considers three main sites: the street corner, the church, and the stage. All important areas where the dialogue between Black music and social change intersect. Musical elements accompany the visuals to give even more of an experience and allows us to explore the civil rights movement from another perspective. Head over to the Center for Civil and Human Rights and take a look for yourself.
