4 Outfits For Any Thanksgiving Dinner

By  |  0 Comments

It’s almost time for Thanksgiving; one of my favorite times of the year.  Soon turkeys will be roasting, greens boiling and pies baking.  This is also the time of year that people are introduced to their significant other’s family for the first time. You just worry about that pecan pie you volunteered to make, let me worry about your Thanksgiving dinner outfit inspirations.  In case you’re a girl who likes seconds (or thirds), I’ve even included a plate guide so you can know the holiday comfort level of each ensemble.

Outfit 1: The Laid Back Outfit

Two and a Half Plates

Some families just don’t do dress up and that’s all right.  With this outfit you will look crazy, sexy, cool.  Of course the loose fit of the sweatshirt offers comfort, but once you take off your leather jacket the surprise shoulder cut outs provide an effortless sexiness.  To add a softness to this outfit accessorize with a beaded bag and booties.

Outfit 2: The “I’m Not Sure How to Dress” Outfit

Three Plates

There won’t always be a predictable dress code when you’re meeting his family.  I don’t know how many times I’ve asked a man “How should I dress?”, just to get the exaggerated Kanye shrug.  In this case, you can play it safe and fashionable.  An oversized blazer is so comfy and conveys a relaxed feeling. Adding a pair of stretchy leggings will not only offer more space for eating, but you never know you might have to sit in some tight spaces depending on if his family is large. Wrap a scarf around your neck and you may be able to leave your jacket in the car.

Blazer: Thrifted

V-Neck Long Sleeved T-shirt: Old Navy

Leggings: Dillards

Sweater Scarf: Francesca’s Boutique

Earrings: Macy’s

High Heeled Oxfords: Thrifted

Outfit 3: The It’s Kind of Fancy Outfit

Two Plates

If you’ve been invited to a dinner like one I would plan and you like to get a little fancy then you are in luck. This gathering is the dinner with specially folded cloth napkins, center pieces and Michael Bublé playing in the background. Feel free to wow the family in sequins such as this sequined maxi skirt.  Tone down the extravagance of the sequins by pairing with a chambray shirt and ballet flats.  Add a little funkiness to this lady like outfit with colorful, bold accessories.

Shirt: Old Navy

Skirt: Macy’s

Shoes: Target

Bag: Aldo

Necklace: Remastered

Bracelets: Thrifted

Outfit 4: The “I Wear What I Want” Outfit

One Plate

You don’t need a dress code or permission to guide your fashion choices. You’re the girl who will always be yourself.  You always dress for style and never comfort. If you are this girl then don’t be afraid to wear something a little more fitted and show off those curves. A cute stretchy or sweater dress is a perfect choice. In case you don’t want his grandmother giving you the eye, pair with a cute pair of tights and slouchy boots. Create conversation by wearing a statement necklace and monogram earrings.

Dress: Know Style

Tights: JCPenney
