Rapper Kendrick Lamar set a new global record yesterday on Spotify. His new album “To Pimp A Butterfly”, was streamed 9.6 million times on Monday, making it the most streamed album in one day.

According to Spotify, the data calculated from 12:01 a.m. to 11:59 p.m. Spotify is available in 58 markets, with 60 million active users and more than 15 million paying subscribers.  A statement released by the company stated that only complete track listens were counted.  The online music streaming application is one of the few places you could listen to the album without purchasing it.

Last month, fellow rapper Drake, set a new Spotify record for most streams of an album in its first week, racking up 17.3 million streams of “If You’re Reading This It’s Too Late” over three days, according to the Los Angeles Times.

Kendrick Lamar’s third studio album “ To Pimp a Butterfly” is set to be released March 23, despite it’s accidental  early release.
