Rapper J. Cole released a new video for his “G.O.M.D.” song off of his latest album “2014 Forest Hills Drive”. The visual, which was directed by Lawrence Lamont, starts with Cole looking out the window staring at a slave owner, who is beating his slaves working in the field. As the video progresses, it is shown that the slaves don’t respect the rapper because he is working inside. The rapper waits until the slave owners are drunk and steals the key to the gun cabinet and incites a riot.  The rioters eventually burn the slave owner’s property to the ground.

Cole stated in a recent interview that the visual for the song is a bit of a parallel to modern life. The rapper stated that he didn’t have a “cool gangsta” story so people where constantly telling him that he was not experiencing the real African American lifestyle. However, Cole went on to say that the real “gangsta” is the one that is more oppressed, similar to the oppression field slaves experienced.

J. Cole is currently on tour and will be touring throughout the summer. Check out the video below.
